SASOL announces its black economic empowerment (BEE) deal – at R25,9 bn, making it the biggest yet. The deal will benefit Sasol employees and black managers (4%). The group says the deal will have an impact on about 1 m people. The empowerment transaction follows the more recent BEE deal that was initiated by the National Empowerment Fund which sold 50% of its 1,5% stake in mobile phone network operator MTN to black investors, at a 20% discount to market value.
