There is a new acronym that has been identified, Cotii – the Council of Trade and Industry Institutions. This is a group of institutions rather than a single institution. This is part of the DTI strategy to ensure a coordinated approach to national economic priorities. Together, the agencies and institutions can be divided into three broad categories, namely development finance, regulatory bodies, and specialist services. Development fiancé includes the National Empowerment Fund, Industrial Development Corporation, Khula Enterprise Finance, the South African Micro-Finance Apex Fund and the Export Credit Insurance Corporation of South Africa
